One of public pianos that i painted - this was painted onsite in Bedok Heartbeats in Singapore. During the process, i had to stop painting at times to allow the public to play - which was a wonderful, immersive experience for me. 

Unfortunately, the piano was vandalised, and the top cover (octopus head) was stolen and eventually it was removed.  Oh well, i guess it found a owner (kidnapper)...

A shipwreck, lying on the seabed of the ocean floor which was shared with an amazing, diverse mix of colourful, vibrant sea creatures. A shipwreck represents a piece of history, frozen in time and carries the image of death and prolonged, helpless, painful struggles before the ship eventually sank, and lives lost. This image reminds me about the horrifying experiences of the Cambodian people who went through significantly unfathomable, intensity of sufferings during the civil war and genocide. With time, through metamorphosis, this actually becomes a protected, breeding paradise for beautiful living forms under the sea. It is beauty undiscovered and also represents new beginnings and raw resilience despite the lack of support and resources. My hope is that the children of Cambodia represent the reborn life and energy, as well as resilience to bring a better future for their families and for Cambodia.

This painting was inspired from a scene in a manga by Makoto Isshiki. Kai was an enigmatic child and the only person capable of bringing out music from an abandoned piano. During one performance he transcended into amazing experiences of the forest. I wanted to do a piano inside a piano - so i deliberately left the tiny piano unpainted so that it retains the original piano colour.

This piano is now played regularly by the boys in Muhammadiyah Welfare Home in Bedok.
